Today is Buddha Purnima, the anniversary of the full moon day when Prince Siddhartha achieved enlightenment to become Gautam Buddha, one of the greatest Masters to ever walk the Earth.

It is not the day of his birth that is remembered, nor the day of his wedding, nor the day his son was born, nor the planned day when he was supposed to have ascended the throne, nor the day he left his palace in search of “that elusive something”. What is remembered, and celebrated, is the day of his enlightenment. More than two and half thousand years later, that achievement still inspires billions of people worldwide. What can we learn from this?

  • Being born means nothing; what you leave behind means everything.
  • With his life, Gautam Buddha teaches us that even the greatest challenges can be surmounted with desire, effort and discipline.
  • Nothing is beyond you, for You are beyond it all.

May the loving light of Gautam Buddha shine upon us all. Happy Buddha Purnima 🙂

Even the greatest challenges can be overcome.
